About this speaker
As a lifelong traveler, home exchanger, travel writer, blogger and Expatsi Oaxaca Expert, Donna's culinary career and cultural interests have come together as an almost full-time expat in Oaxaca. A 3-month scouting trip, traversing most of Mexico, allowed her to glimpse 30+ cities, towns, and pueblos. These adventures are captured in several articles published in International Living.
Having rented in many Oaxacan neighborhoods and pounded the pavement searching for a house to buy, Donna has also been interviewed on the YouTube channel, Almost Retired in Mexico, 7 Things To Know When Buying a House in Mexico. Because Oaxaca is well known as the culinary capital of Mexico, her most recent venture is the launch of the annual Oaxaca Food & Wine Festival, in February 2025, which welcomed guests from around the globe, including Expatsi members.
Still somewhat tethered to Key West, FL, and Colorado, she adores the cultural diversity of Oaxaca (and lived with a Zapotec family), enjoys hiking in the nearby mountains but loves that the beach is just a few hours away.
